We teach jiu-jitsu here in London straight from the source. Our founder Fabio Prado is a black belt under 10x world champion Roger Gracie who is also the grandson of jiu-jitsu's founder Carlos Gracie. Jisso Academy is proud to be a Roger Gracie Academy as well as a UKBJJA registered club. The word “jisso” is a Japanese philosophical concept that translates to “true image” or “essence”. We chose this name for our academy because we know that jiu-jitsu puts you in touch with who you are so that you can work to become a better version of yourself. Our goal is not just to train people to be able to compete in jiu-jitsu as a sport, but to turn people into champions of their own lives. Through training, you will be faced with your own emotions. You will notice your ego. You will learn to put expectations to the side and be fully present, to overcome adversity, and work to improve your position through technique, patience and skill. Every time you train offers an opportunity to tap into the deeper level of jiu-jitsu and become not only a better martial artist, but a better you.
